Population Research Institute

The Population Research Institute, founded in 1978, is one of the earliest population research institutions established in China. In 1979, it was identified by the United Nations Population Fund as one of the first 10 to receive the aids in the country. In 1998, the master's degree program in population science was established with the approval of the Academic Degrees Office of the State Council, and the master's degree program in population, resources, and economics was approved in 2003. The department currently has 15 teachers, including 4 professors, 6 associate professors, 3 doctoral supervisor, 9 master supervisors. 11 of them have obtained doctorate degrees. In the past ten years, we have focused on research on major population issues in economic and social development. We have presided over 14 national social science fund projects, including 3 key projects, undertaken more than 50 horizontal or entrusted social service projects. Some research results have been fully affirmed by provincial and ministerial leaders; We have published more than 100 academic papers in SSCI, CSSCI, PKU Core Journals Index and other journals. Our teachers have won prizes such as the Outstanding Achievements in Population Science and the Outstanding Achievements in Social Sciences in Hebei Province. In the past 20 years, we have trained more than 300 graduates, of whom more than 40 have been admitted to key universities for doctoral degrees. Some graduates have entered Peking University, the Central Party School, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the All-China Women's Federation, Xinhua News Agency, and China Youth University of Political Studies and others. Many have become the backbones.
